Entry Requirements


To support you in making the best choice for your individual needs we provide various levels of qualification at Clarendon Sixth Form College, which means there is a level for everyone.

To ensure that our students are successful in their studies, we require them to meet our entry requirements, however, some courses may also have additional entry requirements.

A Levels

  • Traditional academic qualifications which give in depth knowledge of individual subjects
  • A Levels assessments are by formal examination and in some cases an element of coursework
  • Choose a combination of 3 A Levels

5 GCSEs grade 4 or above includingmaths and/or English

Some courses require additional entry requirements.

Level 2 qualifications

  • Level 2 qualifications provide a good foundation for students wishing to follow a particular vocational route
  • Courses run for 1 year and allow progression onto level 3 qualifications
  • Students are assessed by assignment and practical skills

3 GCSEs at grade 3

Level 3 qualifications

  • Level 3 qualifications provide routes for students wanting to progress onto higher education or employment
  • Level 3 courses are usually taken over 2 years and are equivalent to 3 A Levels
  • Level 3 qualifications can be combined with A Levels

4 GCSEs grade 9 to 4 including maths and/or English

GCSEs (resits)

GCSEs are well known qualifications, which at college are taken over 1 year. GCSEs can be taken alongside any of our courses.

Students who gain grade D (numerical grade 3) in maths and English are expected to resit as part of their study programme.
