A Level English Language

Course content & format

This course is for learners who are interested in studying how English is used in everyday life from speech to a wide range of texts. You will gain an insight into some the changes which have occurred in the English Language, how children manage to acquire language and how language functions daily in society. You will also create your own fiction or non-fiction text and get the chance to research a language topic of your choice.

An A level in English Language will enhance your understanding of other A level subjects such as: Sociology, Law, History, Geography, Psychology, Media and Film Studies.

Your unique experience

You will undertake topics that will fascinate you about language and you had never really considered. Your teacher will guide you through the topics, supporting and challenging you as they go to ensure you reach your highest potential.

Learners must have;

Level 5 in any English GCSE alongside standard A Level entry requirements (5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above)
