You are required to have English and Maths at a Grade C/4 or above, a Level 3 Diploma in a Media related subject or two relevant A Levels grade A-C. For the HND you will also require a Merit grade in the relevant HNC qualification.

Course Content

On a 1-year HND course in media, learners will develop skills gained at level 3 and take them to the next level of competency. The aim of these courses is to prepare our learners for working in the media industry and developing them as confident professionals in their specialist fields. Taught by teachers experienced in many sectors of the industry, this course will work in partnership with local and national media organisations and businesses to allow each learner to gain professional work experience. This course is split into the following units:

Film and Television:

• Personal Professional Development

• Advanced Film and Television Studies

• Sound for Media Products

• Drama

• Multi-Camera Production

• Documentary

• Environment and Level Design

The BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) is a Level 4 and Level 5 qualification made up of 240 credits and is studied full-time over two years.

Course Format

This is a full time programme; you will complete 4 mandatory units: Contextual Studies, Research Techniques, Project Design and Special Subject Investigation and 6 units chosen for that specialise in Film and Television; you must pass all the units to gain the qualification. You will learn through a variety of methods which will aim to meet the needs of each individual and accommodate different learning styles for example, case studies, assessments, group work, practical work, projects and interactive activities.
