For our level 3 course, you are required to have 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English. You will also be required to undertake an interview and join our fun, full-day audition and write a short 500 word piece explaining a little about yourself and why you want to be a performer.

Course Content

If you have a passion for theatre and a desire to pursue other subjects, we offer the BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Performing Arts.

This is a fun, challenging and practical course, which can really compliment your additional A-Level subjects.

On completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to advance your study into year 2 on the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Drama and Theatre. This BTEC course gives you the chance to explore theatre and performance in a practical way, whilst also developing skills which are currently highly sought after amongst most businesses and industries, including public speaking, non-verbal communication, time management, team-work and divergent thinking.





In addition to developing singing skills, actor’s vocal skills, Contemporary and Classical Theatre you will have the opportunity to engage in performance work as well as being involved in our extensive enrichment programme and Season of public performances.

You have the opportunity to be involved in Public Performances, including a Christmas Café Theatre piece, 1 BIG Musical and 1 contemporary play

Enrichment that includes: Fight Club- Stunt and stage combat work, including unarmed and rapier & dagger training, Dance Club- A wide selection of dance including: Ballet, street, modern, ballroom and tap. A fantastic opportunity for you to develop dance and fitness, for fun or at a higher level, Song Club- Fun, weekly singing sessions to improve your voice and to have an opportunity to sing in public, as part of a choir or as a solo performer, Audition class- Essential for your progression into drama school. This is led by an experienced and professional acting coach and author with many years’ experience supporting young people, just like you, into gaining a place at the top UK drama schools.

Course Format

Part time- with 2 other A Levels

This is a very practical course and although there is not a lot of written work, you will be required to write a Log Book, keep a diary and write essays.

The majority of your assessments will be through your performances, many of which will be to public audiences. Recent performance venues have included the main stage at the Royal Exchange Theatre, the main stage at the Trafford centre and of course, in our own beautiful 200 seat theatre with new professional sound and lighting equipment.

Progression

On successful completion of this qualification, many young people progress into Higher Education at Drama School or University, where they continue to train to become professional performers, or train as teachers or professional coaches.

Many young people move immediately into industry and can often be seen on stage and television.
