Fashion students celebrate female role models for IWD

Fashion students at Clarendon Sixth Form College celebrated International Women’s Day 2019 by learning about inspirational female role models in the industry.

The students each delivered a presentation on the most prominent and inspiring fashion designers of the last century and how they are influenced by their work.

Rei Kawakubo, Vivienne Westwood and Coco Chanel were amongst designers the students discussed, delving into how their work changed the industry for the better.

Louise Hawson, fashion teacher at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “International Women’s Day was the perfect time for our students to research and find out more about female fashion designers. At a high level, the fashion industry still seems to be a male dominated environment, so it is important to make sure this issue is highlighted and students know that they can excel in the industry.”
