Top university places for performing arts students

Two performing arts students at Clarendon Sixth Form College have been offered places to study on prestigious degree courses.

Kyra Haslam and Coralee Overton, have been offered places on degree courses at the Arts Educational Schools of London (ArtsEd) and Circomedia school of contemporary circus respectively.

Kyra, who will study a BA honours degree in acting, was successful in gaining a place at ArtsEd’s north-west auditions which were held at Clarendon Sixth Form College. During her time at the school she will be studying improvisation, acting for TV and film, method acting and more.

ArtsEd is one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in the UK, offering training in musical theatre, acting and dance from secondary school level right through to higher education.

Kyra, said: “I’m so pleased to have been offered a place at ArtsEd. It has been a dream of mine to study there for a long time so for it to come true is amazing. I wouldn’t have got to where I am today without the help of the college and Richard, my teacher.”

Coralee will study a BA in contemporary circus and physical theatre, after auditioning for one of only 25 places on the course with her own set piece. She will perfect her techniques in trapeze, hoops, acrobatics and theatre whilst studying.

Circomedia, based in Bristol, offers a variety of training courses in physical theatre and circus skills and is a partner of Bath Spa University.

Coralee, said: “I’m very excited to start with Circomedia, it has been a tough application process and a lot of work so I’m glad it paid off. I wouldn’t have even known about the course itself if it wasn’t for one of the many visitors and experts we have visiting the college to give us workshops and tips.”
